This article and any resources contained therein are for informational purposes only. They are not intended to be used in place of legal or professional advice, treatment, or care in any way. Lawyers, law students, judges, and other legal professionals in Massachusetts can find more on scheduling a Free & Confidential appointment with a licensed clinician or a law practice management advisor here.

Watch now for a fresh, effective perspective on networking from Elena Deutsch in this part of our 8-session series for Support Navigating Challenging Times.

Many people cringe when they hear the word “networking.” It has connotations of being phony or pushy-no wonder so many avoid it altogether.

But what if you understood networking differently?

What if you had a clear and authentic approach to gather information and make connections that open doors which help you vet new opportunities in ways that are easy and tactical?

By attending this one-hour workshop, you can walk away with a whole new way of looking at your job search that’s strategic, straightforward, and connected to who you are.

During the session you’ll:

  • Prime your brain with a fresh perspective that moves you out of fear and into action.
  • Learn a “network mapping” tool to help connect with people you’re genuinely happy to speak with.
  • Understand why informational conversations are one of the most effective job search strategies
  • Acquire a mini toolkit for opening doors and starting conversations that matter.
  • Have a framework for telling your stories that have other people see your skills and strengths, no matter if you’re looking in the legal industry or elsewhere.

This installment is part of the 8-session support program LCL launched in response to the needs of those who may be feeling the impact of the rapidly changing landscape, specifically for lawyers working in the non-profit sector, as well as lawyers whose work has been impacted by the current government situation. The program will offer 4 sessions focused on peer support and stress management tools and 4 sessions focused on employment transition skills. Find more here.
