Meet Our Presenter
Luz, Carrion, Esq. joined LCL in May 2023 as Senior Law Practice Advisor. In this role, she coaches attorneys through practice management, technology, and ethics issues, and guides them through important professional transitions—whether starting a practice, leaving the practice, or reentering the profession.
A solution-seeker at heart, Luz integrates ethics, technology, and practice management principles to help attorneys thrive in law practice, even when facing personal or professional challenges. She works in close collaboration with LCL clinicians when needed, ensuring that attorneys receive both practical guidance and holistic support.
Luz practiced law for about a decade. She began her career as a law clerk with the Massachusetts Juvenile Court and then as an Assistant District Attorney in Essex County. She went on to serve as Complaint Counsel at the Board of Registration in Medicine, and later as Assistant Bar Counsel in the Attorney and Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP) at the Board of Bar Overseers, Office of Bar Counsel (BBO/OBC), the high-volume intake unit of the lawyer regulation system. In that role, she evaluated complaints, educated clients about the legal system and the disciplinary process, and counseled attorneys on everyday practice management and ethical issues to help prevent further grievances. She also served as an Investigator at the Office of Bar Counsel.
In addition, she served as a Hearings Officer at the Registry of Motor Vehicles, adjudicating administrative hearings on complex driving law issues. These experiences gave her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by professionals and individuals whose personal struggles—such as addiction or cognitive impairment—sometimes required them to prioritize recovery over continuing in practice or retaining a driver’s license.
Luz earned her J.D. from New England School of Law in 2004, where her law review article on juvenile record expungement was published.
At her core, Luz is a public servant, committed to helping attorneys safeguard their well-being, uphold their professional integrity, and build sustainable and fulfilling careers.
